Envelope Style Business Card Holder



Materials:
Fingering Yarn
Size F Hook (Tunisian or Crochet hook will work)
Abt.7" strand of contrasting yarn (optional)
Button or snap for closing

Notes: Purl Stitch , Knit Stitch , Eyelet Stitch
Decrease: Insert hook as in a knit st through the next two stitches together, yarn over and pull up a loop.

Body:
To Begin: Chain 16
 
Row One Forward: Pull up a loop from each chain space across. Row One Return: Yarn over and pull back through one loop. * Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from * until one loop remains on your hook.

Row Two Forward: * Purl St once on each of next two, Knit St once in each of next two. Repeat from * across to last. Pull up a loop from last. Row Two Return. Yarn over and pull through one loop. ** Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from ** until one loop remains on your hook.

Row Three - Four: Repeat row two.

Row Five Forward: * Knit St once on each of next two, Purl St once in each of next two. Repeat from * across. Pull up a loop from last. Row Six Return. Yarn over and  pull through one loop ** Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from ** until one loop remains on your hook.

Row Six - Eight: Repeat row five.

Continue to repeat Row Two for four rows, then Row Six for four rows an additional four times. (40 rows all-together)

Tie off

Bottom Flap:
To Begin: With right/working side facing you, re-attach into the side/edge at the ninth row and pull up a loop. Pull up a loop from the next 24 rows/edge spaces. Return in the standard manner (same as all other rows)

Row One Forward: * Purl St in next, Knit St in next. Repeat from * across. Pull up a loop from last.  Row One Return: Yarn over and pull through one loop. ** Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from ** until one loop remains on your hook.

Row Two - Four: Repeat row one; Alternating the Purls and Knits - so that you are making a Knit St into Purls of previous row and a Purl St into Knits of Previous row.

Row Five Forward: Decrease one. * Knit St in next, Purl St in next. Repeat from * across to last three. Decrease one, pull up a loop from last. Row Five Return: Yarn over and pull through one loop. ** Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from ** until one loop remains on your hook.

Row Six to Ten: Repeat row five, continuing to alternate the sequence of stitches  until only three stitches remain in the row, then tie off. (12 rows all-together)


Top Flap

Turn the work upside down (still with right/working side facing you) and repeat the steps for bottom flap; accept that in the 9th or 10th row complete an eyelet stitch in or near the center of the row (see notes) to make a button hole.

Finishing

Sew the short edges (ends) of the body together.

Fold bottom flap over bottom side of body and use contrasting yarn to stitch the bottom flap to the body.

Sew the button onto this flap near the point.
