Purled Knit Stitch

⇐ Back to Lace Stitches
I originally learned this neat stitch from Kim Guzman on Youtube. It is made by combining the Knit with the Purl. In the illustration you can see the original Purled Knit Stitch in the bottom half and how it creates an open square look. In the top half of the image you see a combination of the Knit Stitch next to the Purled Knit Stitch worked alternately throughout two rows creating a moss look. Kim demonstrates both of these in her video embedded below.

Instructions:
To begin: Chain any number to length desired.

Foundation:
Row one forward: Insert hook into first chain space from hook. Yarn over and pull up a loop. * Insert into next, yarn over and pull up a loop. Repeat from * keeping all loops on hook. Row one return: Yarn over and pull back through one loop. * Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from * until one loop remains on hook.

Stitch:
Row two forward: * Pull yarn forward to front; moving over the strand, insert hook through the two vertical bars of next; pull strand back to behind your hook. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Repeat from * to last. Row two return: Yarn over and pull back through one loop. * Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from * until one loop remains on hook.

Repeat row two for pattern.
