Tunisian Reverse Stitch (Trs)

<--- Back to Basic Stitches

The Tunisian Reverse Stitch pulls loops from  the back or reverse side to form fabric. It shifts the chains on the return from the previous row sideways, so that you can see the side thread. It gives the illusion of gathered loops or tiny puffs and creates a nicely textured surface. Follow the instructions in the pattern or check out the video bellow to learn how to complete the stitch...

Instructions
To begin: Chain to desired length.

Foundation: Row one forward: Insert hook in next chain space and pull up a loop. * Insert hook into next, yarn over and pull up a loop. Repeat from * keeping all chains on hook. Row one return: Yarn over and pull back through one loop. * Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from * until one loop remains on hook.

Stitch: Row two forward: * Move hook to back of work and then insert hook from side to side under back thread (as in a Tss but from the back and using the back vertical bar). Yarn over and pull up a loop. Repeat from * to end. Row two return: Yarn over and pull back through one loop. * Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from * until one loop remains on hook.

Repeat row two for pattern.
