Tunisian Double Crochet (Tdc)

⇐ Back to Basic Stitches
This incorporates the double crochet stitch into Tunisian work, combining them to create a different look and taller stitches. This can be done with most any Tunisian stitch accept for those that interfere with your initial yarn over, such as the purl stitch that requires you to pull your yarn forward preventing an effective yo. Take a look at the additional photographs below to see examples of the effect of the double crochet with different Tunisian stitches. The following pattern explains how to complete a Tdc with a simple stitch.

Instructions
To begin: Chain to desired length plus two.

Foundation/Stitch: Row one forward: Yarn over and insert into third chain space from hook, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops. Row one return: Yarn over and pull back through one loop. * Yarn over and pull through two loops. Repeat from * until one loop remains on hook. Chain two.
